Recommendations and declaration of independence and competencies.

According to the AA1000 assurance standard, we are required to include suggestions for improvements in relation to environmental and social responsibility. Our suggestions do not affect the above stated conclusion.

Novozymes reports results as well as performance and development targets. More refined development targets could result in greater clarity as regards Novozymes’ expectations to the objectives for the coming year’s work with environmental and social responsibility.

Novozymes could continue in a more systematic and consistent way to explore the boundaries of management influence and control beyond that of its legal boundaries in respect of environmental and social responsibility.

We recommend that Novozymes develop and implement a common corporate set of social and environmental assessment criteria as well as a common corporate assessment methodology for addressing the social and environmental performance of its suppliers.

We recommend that Novozymes develop a more formalised, yet open-ended stakeholder engagement process to allow it fully to assess emerging stakeholder concerns and interests, including wider societal demands and needs that have a direct or indirect bearing on the Novozymes products and technologies.
